Sugar Syrup
Making your own sugar syrup is surprisingly easy, you just need:
70ml (5tbsp) Water
10 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Vodka
Mix the sugar and water in a pan until the sugar has dissolved, then leave to cool.
Once cooled, add the vodka, stir and pour into your bottle or container.
Reusing your bitters bottle
If you are reusing an empty bottle to store your sugar syrup, ensure you clean it thoroughly beforehand. We would recommend running it through the dishwasher if you have one.
We suggest adding the vodka to lengthen the life of your sugar syrup, and prevent mould from growing. With the vodka, and kept in the fridge, it should last up to 6 months. Without the vodka it should be consumed within a month.
